Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Deutche Marques" mean?

It’s kind of a pun. Deutsche is the German word for German and marques is an English word for car manufacturer. So, DeutscheMarques means German car makers. Say “doy-ch marx.”
It also sounds just like the German money, deutsche marks, in use until 2002.
What kind of car may I bring to the event?
Any car made by a German-owned company from the five main brands, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, or any German car. Bring your daily driver, or any German weekend toy. Got a Maybach, Opel, Merkur, MINI or a Tribant in the garage?
What does it cost to enter a car?
Only $6 per person. All entry fees benefit the Gilmore Car Museum. Our sponsors, Delta Porsche in Grand Rapids, Hayes Mercedes-Benz and Harold Zeigler BMW in Kalamazoo bring you Deutsche Marques, so please buy your next car from them. Entry fee for non-show folks is $10.
Do I need to do anything special to my car?
A wash and wax are nice, but it’s not required.
Will there be awards?
Our judges will be awarding trophies for Best of Show Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Best Other German Car. We're planning awards in six different classes, too. Delta Porsche, Hayes Mercedes-Benz and Zeigler BMW winners will get their names engraved on trophies which will be on display in their showrooms. Visit and impress your friends.
May German car club members park together?
Yes! We’re expecting many members of the Porsche Club of America, the BMW Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, the Audi Club of North America and the Volkswagen Club of America as well as several other car clubs. All are welcome to park together and to recruit members for their organizations.
What are the show hours on Saturday, July 7?
Deutsche Marques will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
How do I get the the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners?
You may use the Google Maps button on the right side of our website. The address is 6865 Hickory Rd, Hickory Corners, MI 49060
What if it rains?
The event will go on and we will have fun, rain or shine.
What is there to see at the Gilmore Car Museum?
The Gilmore Car Museum is one of the top five automotive museums in the United States. The park-like campus contains 7 separate museums with nearly 300 cars and hundreds items of automotive interest on display. There’s even the Blue Moon Diner, an authentic 1941 eatery, and the museum's new Cafe for food. Visit www.GilmoreCarMuseum.org for more info about this world-class venue.
Will there be new German cars there too?
Our sponsors, Delta Porsche in Grand Rapids, Hayes Mercedes-Benz and Zeigler BMW in Kalamazoo, may have new models on site.
How can I help spread the word about this fun event?
Be sure to share our web address www.DeutscheMarquesAG.com via social media (buttons on our site), and feel free to download the event poster, print it and display the poster for your friends.
